Each issue we talk with one of our MATC seniors to see how they’re doing! This time, we spoke with Khari Dixon.

How are you liking MATC?
“I have a bittersweet feeling for it. I like the freedom that I have with only one class a day and having more time to myself. However, the classes are super tough and are very time-consuming.”What is your favorite class?
“My favorite class is intermediate algebra. The instructor Mr. Pileggi is funny, engaging and teaches his concepts very well. I highly recommend taking his class if you continue going down the math route!”
How has the transition been from tenor to MATC? Do you feel supported?
“I believe Tenor has prepared me well for the transition to MATC. With improved study habits and a growing comfort in asking questions, I have found it easier to approach my instructors with any issues I encounter in my work. Carol has also been a great help; she is making me academically prepared for my future by the time I graduate.”
What can juniors expect next year?
“Something that juniors can expect next year is a lot of independence. You won’t always have someone reminding you about deadlines, so it’s up to you to ensure that you complete your tasks on time.
What advice do you have for the juniors?
“Make sure to manage your time wisely. Don’t schedule too many shifts at your job because you’ll need to prioritize studying over work. If you miss an assignment deadline, instructors typically won’t allow you to make it up.
What are your plans next year?
“My plans for next year are to continue studying accounting for my associate’s degree and then proceed to college to pursue my bachelor’s degree.”
